This week in Eatable News, I invite you to feast your eyes on The Most American Thickburger. Because nothing says ‘Merica like a burger/hot dog/potato chip mashup, amirite?
See it for yourself, along with more food stories you don’t want to miss. And be sure to check out last week’s tastiest tidbits. Did you see the royal baby pizza?
1. Starbucks is getting in on the pizza game
I don’t know how I feel about sipping on a grande low-fat double-shot caramel macchiato while noshing on pepperoni pizza, but pairings aside, Starbucks’ new Volpi Pepperoni and Tomato Foldover looks delicious. I mean, it’s a croissant pizza. What’s not to like?
2. Burger King Red Velvet Oreo Shake

So Burger King has a new, limited Red Velvet Oreo Shake. It’s made with red cream cheese and Oreo cookies, and as someone who has never turned down a cookies ‘n’ cream milkshake, I’m sure it’s quite tasty. But why didn’t they just use Red Velvet Oreos when they were available? Missed opportunity, Burger King. Missed opportunity.
3. Behold… the Most American Thickburger
The Associated Press reports that Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s are rolling out this bad boy on May 20. It’s a burger topped with a hot dog nestled on a bed of Lay’s potato chips. It’s got 1,030 calories and 64 grams of fat, and is appropriately named the Most American Thickburger (otherwise known as breakfast, lunch and dinner between two buns).
4. Apple pie
See what they did there?
5. Maple Water

This one might take a little convincing… I’m not sure how I feel about maple-y water. But it’s said to be very refreshing and does not make you feel like you’re eating pancakes due to the high water content. If you’re up for it, Trader Joe’s is selling it for $2.99. And if you hate it, just boil it down, and use it for breakfast.
6. Food mashup of the week
It’s a whole pineapple stuffed with boneless pork ribs, then wrapped in bacon and smoked. And it’s called a “swineapple.” Game over.
7. Drool-worthy recipe of the week
Image: Half Baked Harvest
Although it’s grilling season year-round here in sunny California, there’s something about the weather warming up that makes me want to barbecue every single meal. And when I saw these coconut honey lime Filipino chicken adobo skewers, I decided that not only should every meal be grilled, but they should be these very skewers. I’ll be honest… I’m struggling to not lick my screen.
