January’s over, so I guess it’s time to officially abandon our “get healthy” resolutions.
Thank goodness, because I’m about to introduce you to the cheesiest doughnut you never knew you always wanted.
It’s a mac ‘n’ cheese doughnut, crusted in crushed Cheetos and fried to crispy perfection. I hope you have your antacids handy, because this one’s a doozy.
Mac ‘n’ cheese on its own is a fine treat now and again. Heck, pressing it into a doughnut mold and serving it up in doughnut shapes doesn’t seem so crazy either. But dipping it in an egg wash, rolling it around in crushed Cheetos and then deep-frying it just seems like a really reckless move. It’s like you’re daring the culinary gods to give you a heart attack. I don’t know about you, but the last way I want to go out is with fluorescent, orange-stained fingertips and a look of shame about me.
Then again, according to the number of likes this pic got on Instagram, there are at least 1,900 people who disagree with me. So, if you so desire, please feel free to go gentle into that good night with a cheese powder-orange smile and a belly full of carbo-loaded goodness. After all, most people are willing to put Cheetos on almost anything these days.
