True sour cream has a butterfat content of 18 percent, while light varieties have around 10.5 per cent. This means you’re taking in about 30 to 60 calories for a mere two tablespoons of the stuff, not to mention receiving very little food value! Fortunately this homemade sour cream is made of two simple ingredients that are incredibly good for you, so you don’t have to feel guilty about indulging in this scrumptious treat.
Homemade sour cream
Makes 1 cup
- 1/2 cup 0 per cent Greek yogourt
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- Place the yogourt and ricotta in a food processor or blender, and mix on high.
- Scoop the mixture into an airtight container, and store it in the fridge until ready to use.
Note: So long as you keep the measurements of ricotta and yogourt relatively equal, you can alter the recipe to make any quantity you need.
