Crème fraîche is a thick and rich-tasting cream that comes from the French and is used in many aspects of cooking. It can be a substitute for yogurt or sour cream in recipes, but it can be a little pricey and hard to find at the store.

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk

Make your own crème fraîche at home for a fraction of the store price. To make this delicious, easy recipe, you need only two ingredients. Combine the two ingredients in a bowl, and cover with a clean cloth in a warm location. Let the mixture sit for about 12 to 16 hours, until it's thick but pourable. Give it a little stir, and it's ready to be used. It can be refrigerated for up to one week if you're not ready to use it in your cooking just yet. If you want a little taste test, then add some berries, and enjoy.
