7 Ways to eat (and drink) to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins Oct. 1, and there are so many ways you can get involved.
One of the easiest? Choose your grocery items and restaurants wisely, and you'll be making a difference while enjoying some delicious foods and drinks.
1. Hungry Howie's pizza
Throughout October, Hungry Howie's pizza is running its seventh annual Love, Hope & Pizza campaign. It'll be serving up pizza in light pink boxes branded with the National Breast Cancer Foundation logo to show its support, selling merchandise to raise funds for the foundation and also offering coupons to those who share personal stories of strength to their Facebook page. The restaurant has donated more than $1.5 million to the National Breast Cancer Foundation over the past six years.
2. Northland juices
At Northland, you can "Drink to Pink" all year when you purchase its beverages. Since 2006, the company has donated more than $500,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
3. P.F. Chang's
P.F. Chang's is inviting its customers to “Try a Taco, Take a Pic” to join the fight against breast cancer. For the month of October, its #PFChangsPink Breast Cancer Awareness program asks customers to either take a photo in front of the P.F. Chang's warrior horse outside each restaurant and share it on social media with the hashtag #PFChangsPink or to purchase one of its new Jicama Street Tacos. Anytime a customer does either of these, the company will make a $1 donation to the American Cancer Society.
4. Sartori cheese
This year, Sartori is bringing back its Peppermint BellaVitano cheese. A portion of the proceeds will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Yoplait's Friends in the Fight promo asks customers to enter the code underneath the lid of their yogurt on the company's website and choose which of three organizations they want to donate 10 cents to. Customers have until March to enter their codes, and if the entire $350,000 of Yoplait's donation hasn't yet been allocated, the company will split the remainder among the three organizations.
6. Seattle Chocolates
Seattle Chocolate donates 100 percent of net profits to fight women's breast cancer from the sales of its extreme dark truffle bar, complete with hot pink wrapper and all-natural ingredients.
7. Tervis pink ribbon mugs
You need something to drink your coffee from, right? Tervis has several pink ribbon travel mugs to choose from and donates 5 percent of sales of these products to support the fight against breast cancer.
