I almost always make my own nut milks instead of buying them in the store. It’s not because I’m one of those “I must make everything from scratch” people; it’s more because I can almost never finish a whole carton of nut milk.
When I get a craving for the nutty stuff, I want a glass, not 10 glasses. So I have started making it from scratch at home so I can give in to my craving without having to throw away half the carton. You won’t believe how easy it is. Just bust out that blender, and make yourself a big glass of chocolate-hazelnut milk. It tastes like Nutella, but it’s actually healthy.
Homemade chocolate-hazelnut milk (healthy Nutella milk) recipe
Yields 3 cups
- 3 cups water
- 1-1/2 cups hazelnuts
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- To a high-powered blender, add all the ingredients, and blend until smooth and combined.
- Line a strainer with cheesecloth, and pour the mixture through the strainer. This will help remove any nut pulp.
- Serve cold.
