Is cold weather taking a toll on your skin? We’ve got tips to help you winterize your skincare routine.

1. Moisturize

The cold weather can sap moisture right out of your skin, especially if you spend a lot of time outside. Opt for creams and moisturizers with aloe and vitamin E. Apply morning and night after a gentle wash.

2. Protect your lips

Your kisser has particularly thin skin and can easily get chapped when the temperatures drop and winds gust. Keep creamy balms in your purse or pocket and apply often.

3. Cleanse gently

Frequent washing will dehydrate your skin. Remove makeup with towlettes or use a moisturizing cleanser that has botnicals and oils and wash gently. Immediately after washing, pat dry, and apply moisturizer. When it comes to showers and baths, keep water at a moderately warm temperature since hot water can also dry your skin.

4. Use a humidifier

Humidfiers will make the air in your home skin-friendly and protect skin from dry heat from the furnace or fire place. Run a humidifier at night in your bedroom and let it hydrate your skin while you sleep.

5. Exfoliate

A gentle exfoliation every week will slough off dead skin cells and allow your skincare products to work more effectively. It will also brighten your skin and make it smooth.

6. Diet right

Even if you aren’t as thirsty in the winter, stay well hydrated. Adequate hydration is essential to skin health. Also, make sure your daily diet is chockful of antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables as well as healthy fats, such as avocado, olive, and flax, to add moisture to your skin.
