2. Sleep and sleep some more
Sleep deprivation takes a heavy toll on your health. Just think about how ragged you feel -- and often look -- when you don't get enough shut-eye. Over time, chronic sleeplessness can age your brain and body. Aim for 8 hours every night, even if it means changing your schedule.

Regular exercise will keep your brain and body in top shape. Not only does exercise reduce your risk of chronic diseases, it improves your physical fitness level and boosts your brain health. In addition, exercise elevates hormones, such as endorphins, which make you feel good and improve your ability to handle stress and manage pain.

Avoid isolating yourself from your family and friends. Having a strong support system will keep you feeling younger because it will make you more active -- both physically and mentally. Get involved in your church, join a fitness group, make coffee or walking dates with others, and stay in touch with people by phone, computer, or in person. The more loved you feel, the more young at heart, brain, and body you will feel, too.
