Throughout the past year, Abbott Elementary writer, creator, and star Quinta Brunson has absolutely dominated the awards show circuit. Among her many accolades, Brunson has won an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a SAG Award (just to name a few). On March 1, Brunson is taking another award show by storm — this time as host instead of a nominee. That’s right, Brunson will be hosting the long-awaited Billboard Women in Music and we’re streaming it live!
“Each year Billboard’s Women in Music event recognizes music’s rising artists, creators, producers and executives for their contributions to the industry and community,” the official event description reads.
During the big night, many of our favorite musicians will be honored. SZA, whose album SOS has topped the Billboard 200 list for a whopping 10 weeks now, will be honored with the Woman of the Year Award. “It really scares me, but I really want to do something with my time in the sun right now,” the “Kill Bill” singer told Billboard of her reaction to receiving the award. “There’s so much I want to do for other people. I need to do something to deserve that in a way that has nothing to do with me, something that’s selfless and uplifts other women, people, period.”
She continued, “It makes me feel more responsible than I was before. I feel like I owe everyone so much more than just smiling and getting onstage and waving. Part of it I know is just letting God use me and be myself and letting that be part of the work. But I know that there’s something more that I have to do.”
Also honored during the star-studded night will be Becky G with the Impact Award presented by American Express, Doechii receiving the Rising Star Award presented by Honda, Ivy Queen with the Icon Award, Kim Petras with the Chartbreaker Award, Latto with the Powerhouse Award, Lainey Wilson with the Rulebreaker Award, Lana Del Rey with the Visionary Award, Rosalía with the Producer of the Year Award and TWICE with the Breakthrough Award.
