The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in New York City yesterday evening for a whirlwind trip to the U.S.
Will and Kate landed at JFK to a very eager mass of fans teeming to get a glimpse of William’s dashing smile or see what Kate was wearing. The couple was made welcome by the city, too, which, getting into the royal fever, changed the colors on top of the iconic Empire State Building to the colors of the Union Jack.
The couple is, in fact, just for this trip opting to leave little Prince George at home. William and Kate will be in the States for only 48 hours and will be making 10 different appearances at various events. The flurry of events was the impetus for leaving the adorable chunky-cheeked toddler across the pond.
Their trip will include visits to both New York City and Washington, D.C. While in the Big Apple, Kate will attend, among other things, a conservation reception with Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, while William will head down to Washington, D.C., to meet with President Barack Obama at the White House.
It’s not all work and no play for the power couple. The British royals are more than likely going to be caught hobnobbing with some American royalty as well. The prince will return to NYC, where he and his lady will attend an NBA game — Nets vs. Cavaliers. And we all know who is part owner of the Nets: Queen Bey
and her hubby Jay Z
. And our favorite king, as we also know, plays for the Cavs. (Well played, William and Kate.)
It is nice to see that Kate is able to not only travel, but to participate in such a fast-paced trip. The duchess, who is pregnant with the second royal baby, had been suffering from a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum, which basically means she has the worst morning sickness known to [wo]man and has had to cancel some recent events and spend some time in the hospital. The ever flawless-looking Middleton stepped out in NYC wearing an American maternity brand, Seraphine. And of course, she looked stunning as always.
Welcome to the good ol’ U.S. of A., William and Kate!
