Nickelodeon’s Sam & Cat may have enjoyed success with its first season, but fans of the show may be upset to learn the comedy series has been canceled after just one season, Deadline reports.
There has been much speculation as to whether the show, which stars Ariana Grande and Jennette McCurdy, would survive another season after the conflicts that surrounded it. Recent events include McCurdy’s leaked lingerie pictures and the fact that she did not attend the 2014 Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles, California, over claims that she had problems with Nickelodeon’s bosses.
According to Hollywood Life, Nickelodeon’s bosses said in a statement that, “Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat. We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them all the best…The time was right for everyone. They (Ariana and Jennette) are both 21 and are pursuing successful new paths in their careers, and we are in full production on Dan Schneider’s next series, Henry Danger, scheduled to premiere this fall.”
On Sunday, the “The Way” singer took to Twitter to post an emotional essay about her time spent on the show, noticeably leaving out any mention of her former co-star.

“So the news is out about Sam & Cat. I felt it wasn’t my place to make any sort of announcement so I kept quiet until now,” Grande began. “I want to thank Nickelodeon for making a childhood dream of mine come true, for being a family to me, for being so accommodating and supportive of my multitasking with my music career, and for of course introducing me to many of my fans however many years ago,” she continued.
“I want to thank Dan Schneider (@DanWarp) for allowing me to play such a special, beautiful character who I hid behind for so long. What I mean by that is when I was younger, people loved Cat so much I used to pretend to be more like her, ” she added.

Many believe the show has been canceled because of the conflicts between co-stars while others assume it’s because Grande’s Hollywood star is swiftly rising.
