Music heals the soul, and for one young fan, Zumyah Thorpe, Bruno Mars’ music has truly touched her life and helped her on her road to recovery.
We’re sure crooner Bruno Mars has touched many fans’ lives in some way, but this latest story is one of the most beautiful stories we have heard in a long time.
At the “Locked Out Of Heaven” hit maker’s show in Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday, he had an extra special guest with him, Zumyah Thorpe. The singer made sure the little girl felt extra special during the night as he dedicated his concert to her, serenaded her with her favorite song “Just the Way You Are” and gave her his guitar and fedora.
In 2013, the 11-year-old girl suffered severe physical injuries and brain damage after the car she was traveling in was hit by a drunken driver. Thorpe lost her pregnant mother and her two younger sisters in the horrific car accident, but she continued to fight for her life at the UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.
It was there at the hospital that nurses played Bruno Mars’ hit songs to his young fan every night, WKYC reports. And the effects have been miraculous.
“I am absolutely convinced that singing those Bruno Mars songs and being able to say ‘Bruno Mars’ is in itself a miracle … knowing all the words to the songs has helped her recover,” her doctor, Nancy Bass, told the station. “I asked her who her favorite singer was and she said ‘Bruno Mars’ as quick as anyone would say any singer, and she just started singing every single word.”
