We’ve learned over the years that Hollywood is notoriously bad for marriages and dating — in 2017, we witnessed the downfall of powerhouse couples like Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris and Olivia Munn and Aaron Rodgers; so far, 2018 similarly hasn’t spared many beloved celebrity couples from experiencing that same heartbreak. As we near the end of the year, the list of Hollywood couples calling it quits is stacking up and is a reminder of just how many celebs are re-entering the dating market (if they want to).
Sure, there is still hope. New Hollywood couples are always popping up and stealing our hearts. But still, looking at the list of celebs here who have parted ways thus far — including Shawn Booth and Kaitlyn Bristowe, Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum, and even Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson — reminds us that just in the realm of celebrity splits alone, so much has happened in 2018.

Forest Whitaker & Keisha Nash
After 22 years of marriage, Forest Whitaker and Keisha Nash are calling it quits. According to Entertainment Tonight, Whitaker filed for divorce on Dec. 27, citing irreconcilable differences. They met in 1994 on the set of Blown Away and have two daughters together.
Cardi B & Offset
On Dec. 5, Cardi B confirmed in a video posted to her Instagram that after a year of marriage and welcoming the birth of their daughter, Kulture, in July, she and rapper Offset were separating and would pursue a divorce. The pair began publicly dating in 2017, with Offset proposing onstage at Cardi’s Oct. 27, 2017 concert in Philadelphia.
Per Cardi’s video announcement, the couple is parting amicably, with Cardi stating, “We are really good friends and we are really good business partners — you know he’s always somebody that I run to to talk to, and we got a lot of love for each other but things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time. “It’s nobody fault I guess we just grew out of love, but we are not together anymore. I don’t know, it might take time to get a divorce and I’m going to always have a lot of love for him because he is my daughter’s father.”
Robert De Niro & Grace Hightower
In late November, People magazine reported that sources close to couple Robert De Niro and his wife of 21 years, Grace Hightower, were in the process of splitting up. One source told People the couple had been living apart for some time and that “sometimes things don’t work out the way you hope or want them to.”
Married since 1997, De Niro and Hightower met in the late ’80s and have two children together: 20-year-old Elliot and 6-year-old Helen Grace.
Kaitlyn Bristowe & Shawn Booth
On Friday, Nov. 2, former Bachelor Nation couple Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth, who got engaged at the end of The Bachelorette season 19 in 2015, confirmed in a statement to People magazine that they had called it quits after three years together.
"After three incredible years, we have decided to go our separate ways. This difficult decision comes after thoughtful, respectful consideration. Even though we are parting as a couple, we’re very much committed to remaining friends and we will continue to support each other. Due to the nature of how we met, our relationship has always been very public, and we have enjoyed sharing it with all of you, but we ask that you respect our decision and our privacy at this time."
Pete Davidson & Ariana Grande
One of 2018's most high-profile relationships ended as quickly as it began when, in October, Ariana Grande and Saturday Night Live's Pete Davidson not only broke off their engagement but also officially broke up. The couple first got together in the spring, were engaged by June and soon began living together. Neither celeb issued a statement on their split when it was first confirmed by outlets, including CNN.
Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner
After three years of separation, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner finalized their divorce in October. The couple quickly wrapped up proceedings shortly after Affleck finished a two-week rehab program in Malibu.
Zac & Shelly Brown
E! News reported in early October that Zac Brown, of The Zac Brown Band, was separating from his wife Shelly after 12 years of marriage. In a joint statement, the former couple wrote, "We feel blessed to be on such an incredible journey in life and sometimes the journey begins to lead in different directions. It is with deep love and respect that we announce we are separating as a couple. We have led a whirlwind life together growing into a beautiful family with five amazing children and while life will be rearranging a bit, our love and commitment to our family will always be there. This was a difficult decision, but we've done plenty of tough things together and this is our next venture—love, mutual respect, and care for each other are what we are moving forward with."
Kourtney Kardashian & Younes Bendjima
After two years together Kourtney Kardashian and model Younes Bendjima called it quits in August. According to E! News, the former couple went on quite the emotional rollercoaster towards the end of the relationship before, according to a source, the pair "decided to take time apart but ultimately it led to a split."
Miranda Lambert & Evan Felker
While they never actually confirmed their relationship, country musicians Miranda Lambert and Evan Felker reportedly quietly split up in August. Linked since February, the couple had been embroiled in drama from the beginning when it was reported that Felker was still technically married to estranged wife Staci Felker. Neither party has commented on what led to the split.
Courtney Dober & Lily McManus
In August, Bachelor Nation lost one of its most recent couples when Bachelor Winter Games stars Courtney Dober and Lily McManus called it quits. Accordingto E! News, the couple announced what seemed to be a very amicable split in respective Instagram posts.
Ben Affleck & Lindsay Shookus
In late August, we learned via E! News that after a year of dating, Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus, his first love interest following his split from Jennifer Garner, had quietly separated. Neither Affleck nor Shookus commented on the split when the news was announced. Rumors of the split were sparked when Affleck was seen on what appeared to be a date night with Playboy model Shauna Sexton and Shookus deleted her Instagramshortly after that news broke.
Hayden Panettiere & Wladimir Klitschko
While there was no official statement released from Hayden Panettiere or Wladimir Klitschko, rumors of their split emerged around August 2, when Panettiere was spotted holding hands with a new man who was definitely not Klitschko. E! News was later able to confirm that the couple had separated and as of August 3, for all intents and purposes, they were no longer a couple but were still on friendly terms and will be coparenting their daughter, Kaya, who spends a majority of her time with Klitschko.
Kevin Connolly & Francesca Dutton
After dating for one year, Us Weekly reported that Entourage alum Kevin Connolly had split from girlfriend and British socialite Francesca Dutton had split. No specific reason for the couple's split was given, but an unnamed insider mysteriously hinted that they "could get back together, but it doesn’t look likely."
Nia Vardalos & Ian Gomez
My Big Fat Greek Wedding writer Nia Vardalos and actor Ian Gomez officially announced their divorce in July, although their statement indicates that they amicably separated a long time before they made the announcement.
In a joint statement to E! News, Vardalos and Gomez wrote, "We've been respectfully separated for a lengthy period of time. Our relationship became a friendship so the decision to end the marriage is completely mutual and amicable. It is our hope that decency will prevail on the reporting of this story which will soon be yesterday's news. Thank you for respecting our privacy."
Yolanda Hadid & Matt Minnis
Us Weekly confirmed that Real Housewives alum Yolanda Hadid had officially split from her boyfriend of a few months, Matt Minnis. Sources confirmed the split, noting that it happened quietly before it was officially announced.
G-Eazy & Halsey
After 1 year together, E! News reported that rapper G-Eazy and pop singer Halsey had officially called it quits in early July. Halsey made the split announcement on her Instagram story on Tuesday, July 3, writing, "I normally keep this kind of thing private but provided our public nature I feel I need to inform my fans. G-Eazy and I are taking some apart. I'm eager to continue the upcoming passage of time dedicating myself to my art and career, and the duration of my tour. I wish him the best. Thanks for respecting our privacy at this time."
Lucy Hale & Riley Smith
Former Life Sentence costars Lucy Hale and Riley Smith reportedly split shortly after Life Sentence was canceled in May. Per a source speaking to Entertainment Tonight, "both have moved on," with Smith moving to Chicago to begin production on his new television show, Proven Innocent, as well as prepare for the release of his new album while Hale stays behind in Los Angeles. The pair met on the set of Life Sentence and were together a few months.
Liam Payne & Cheryl Cole
On July 1, the BBC reported that former One Direction member Liam Payne announced his split from singer Cheryl Cole. The exes have one son together, Bear. Both Payne and Cole released nearly identical statements on Twitter confirming that they had split, although they didn't specifically comment on what broke them up.
Cole's Twitter statement reads: "We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It's been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together." Payne's Twitter statement was released at the same time and reads very similarly to Cole's.
Sam Smith & Brandon Flynn
Sometimes social media can alert us to breakups before celebrity couples make the announcement themselves.
The internet discovered that Sam Smith unfollowed his boyfriend of 9 months, 13 Reasons Why's Brandon Flynn, and deleted all photos of him from his Instagram page. Neither Smith nor Flynn has commented on the split yet.
Derek Peth & Taylor Nolan
Bachelor in Paradise's Derek Peth and Taylor Nolan announced their breakup on June 26 with a joint statement exclusively given to E! News.
"It is with much sadness that we have decided to end our engagement," they said. "We put everything we could into our relationship and are heartbroken to go forward separately, but we know this is the best decision for the both of us," the exes said. "We will still be present in each other's lives with support, admiration and respect for each other."
Luke Pell & Holly Allen
E! News confirmed in late June that, for the second time, Bachelor Nation couple Luke Pell and Holly Allen had split up. A source that spoke to E! exclusively claimed that there were compatibility issues once the couple had moved into together in Tennessee. "They moved in together into Luke's place in Nashville and it was cool at first, but they learned they just weren't compatible like that on a day to day basis. They both realized that they didn't see this working out in the long term, so they quietly broke up," the source explained.
The pair had rekindled their romance in January and confirmed it in March. Neither has released a statement on the split.
Brad Walsh & Christian Siriano
After two years of marriage, Brad Walsh announced he and Christiano Siriano split via Instagram Story, saying “Bit more than a month ago my husband and I separated,” Walsh wrote. “I was contacted by a writer for a website who somehow found out, so rather than let them break it, I’m telling you myself. It’s nobody’s business and I don’t want to discuss, but that’s what’s up.”
Siriano’s rep also confirmed the breakup to Us Weekly. “They’re separated,” the rep said in a statement. “They were together for 11 years, love each other very much and request privacy at this time.”
Alexis & Jim Bellino
Former Real Housewives of Orange County couple Alexis and Jim Bellino are officially splitting after 13 years of marriage. According to TMZ, Alexis was given divorce papers by Jim. The papers say that Jim is seeking spousal support as well as joint legal and physical custody of their three children, James, Melania and Mackenna.
Jillian Michaels & Heidi Rhoades
Jillian Michaels and Heidi Rhoades called it off their wedding in mid-June and E! News gave the full 411. According to the outlet, Michaels and Rhoades not only called off their wedding, they called off their entire relationship. The duo had been together for nearly eight years when Michaels confirmed in June they'd been split up for some time. While Michaels confirmed the split, she didn't go into details about why the broke up. Rhoades hasn't commented at the time of reporting.
Ariana Grande & Mac Miller
TMZ confirmed that after two years of dating, Ariana Grande and rapper Mac Miller amicably split in May. According to the outlet, "Ariana and Mac quietly cut off their romantic relationship after their work schedules became too busy, but they've remained best friends since then."
Geena Davis & Dr. Reza Jarrahy
E! News reported in May that actor Geena Davis and her husband of 16 years, Dr. Reza Jarrahy, were splitting up. According to court documents obtained by E!, Jarrahy filed the paperwork for a divorce under the name "Rob Doe" and cited "irreconcilable differences." He also requested Davis not be given spousal support. The docs also confirmed the pair had officially separated in December 2017.
Ric Ocasek & Paulina Porizkova
People magazine confirmed in May 2018 that, after 28 years of marriage, The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek and model Paulina Porizkova had separated. Porizkova made the official announcement in a statement on her Instagram, stating that she and Ocasek had peacefully separated in 2017, but we still working together to keep their family unit together; it seems to have been an amicable split.
Colton Haynes & Jeff Leatham
Another whirlwind romance bit the dust in May 2018. TMZ confirmed that actor Colton Haynes was splitting from his husband of just six months, Jeff Leatham, for still-unknown reasons. The pair met in March 2017 and were married by October 2017. Neither released a public statement about their split, although Teen Vogue reported that shortly after the news broke, Haynes posted a song on his Instagram called "Man It Sucks," which seemed to allude to the breakup.
Dennis & Kimberly Quaid
As of April 27, Dennis Quaid finalized his divorce from his third wife, Kimberly. According to a report issued by TMZ, the couple "agreed to joint custody of their 10-year-old twins, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, with Dennis paying $13,750 per month in child support. The amount will increase if he makes over $1.3 million a year." Dennis and Kimberly were married for 14 years, but Kimberly initially filed for divorce in 2012, before withdrawing the petition only to refile in 2016.
Miranda Lambert & Anderson East
After two years of dating, country music stars Miranda Lambert and Anderson East officially split. Up until a few months ago, the couple had seemed very happy and very much in love, with Lambert posting a selfie of her kissing East ahead of his performance on the Today show. East was the first man Lambert had dated seriously since divorcing Blake Shelton in 2015.
Jennie Garth & Dave Abrams
After three years of marriage, Jennie Garth officially filed for divorce from actor Dave Abrams in April. The couple had previously been spending some time apart, as they announced five months before the divorce filing, stating at the time that they wanted to work on their marriage.
Kendra Wilkinson & Hank Baskett
After lots of speculation about the state of their marriage and lots of mysterious posts on Instagram, Kendra Wilkinson publicly confirmed her split from and officially filed for divorce from Hank Baskett in early April. In an Instagram post of the couple in happier times, Wilkinson bid a bittersweet farewell to the man she'd called her husband for 10 years. "Today is the last day of my marriage to this beautiful man," she wrote. "I will forever love Hank and be open but for now we have chosen to go our own ways. I’m beyond sad and heartbroken because I did believe in forever, that’s why I said yes but unfortunately too much fear has gotten in the way."
Jonathan Scott & Jacinta Kuznetsov
Scott and Kuznetsov (pictured above, to the right of Linda Phan) officially split after dating for nearly three years. Scott confirmed the split to Entertainment Tonight and both he and Kuznetsov respectively confirmed the split on their individual Instagram accounts. It seems that it was am amicable breakup and that it was just time for the couple to part ways.
Dean Unglert & Lesley Murphy
According to Entertainment Tonight, Bachelor: Winter Games sweethearts Dean Unglert and Lesley Murphy split up over the weekend of April 6. Unglert hinted at the breakup on Instagram over the weekend of April 6, writing this cryptic message accompanying a selfie: "Growing up as a kid I had a crude but utopian idea of what love is. I always had this idea that no matter what you did, no matter how you act, as long as you’re true to yourself and act in good conscious, your path would lead you to the one person on this planet you’re meant to be with. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that although everyone DESERVES love, it’s not something we’re entitled to. Love takes work. Love is compromise. Love is earned. I still have a lot of work to do on myself, a lot to prove to myself, before I’m ready for something like that."
Ashley Iaconetti & Kevin Wendt
Yet another Bachelor: Winter Games couple bit the dust in April: Ashley Iaconetti and Kevin Wendt. After making it official on the show, Iaconetti and Wendt announced their split in early April. While the couple attempted to make long distance work (Iaconetti lives in L.A. and Wendt lives in Canada), Iaconetti revealed to fellow Bach Nation alum Ben Higgins the real reason they fizzled: "It sounds a little harsh, but it’s just that lack of — there’s magic. We get along very well, it’s just there’s a little something missing and you can’t really pinpoint what it is. That’s just how I feel."
Benoit Beausejour-Savard & Clare Crawley
After getting engaged on live television for the finale of The Bachelor: Winter Games, Benoit Beausejour-Savard and Clare Crawley officially split in April 2018. In a joint statement posted to Crawley's Instagram, the exes confirmed their mutual decision to split up: "It's with a heavy heart that we have mutually decided to end our relationship. We think the world of each other, and we were both hoping we could make this work. I'm sorry that this may not be what you want to hear, but it's our truth. Just know there are no negative feelings here, we are simply two people who believed in love, and were open enough to give it a chance. We still care for each other very deeply."
Brooke Burke & David Charvet
Brooke Burke filed from her husband David Charvet on Friday, April 6, according to TMZ. The married couple of 7 years began dating in 2006 and share an 11-year-old daughter Heaven Rain and 10-year-old son, Shaya Braven. Burke also has two older daughters from her first marriage to Garth Fisher. Reasons for the split are unclear at this time and neither Burke nor Charvet have commented on the news.
Rudy & Judith Giuliani
After 15 years of marriage, it was announced on April 5 that Rudy Giuliani and his wife, Judith, would be splitting up. In a statement to Page Six, Giuliani confirmed the split and asked for privacy during this time. "It is with great sadness I can confirm that Judith and I are divorcing. We hope to do this as amicably as possible, and hope that people will respect the privacy of our children at this time," the former mayor of New York City told the outlet. Additional comments made by Giuliani in his statement give us a hint at what may have caused the marriage to dissolve: "In these divorce situations, you cannot place blame, it is 50/50, there are problems on both sides," he stated. "We will have to divide our properties in New York and Palm Beach."
Ruth Negga & Dominic Cooper
Preacher co-stars Ruth Negga and Dominic Cooper officially called it quits in early April 2018 after dating for eight years. According to a report by Page Six and sources speaking to that outlet, "[t]heir romance ran its course and the two are moving on" and the pair are planning to "remain friends." Negga and Cooper met in 2009 when they were both working on the play Phèdre for the National Theatre in London.
Jenna Dewan Tatum & Channing Tatum
Jenna Dewan Tatum & Channing Tatum shocked the world on April 2 when they announced they were splitting after 9 years of marriage in a joint statement on Instagram. The statement said, "We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.”
Eliza Coupe & Darin Olien
We learned in early April that Happy Endings star Eliza Coupe was splitting from her husband of four years, Darin Olien. According to Us Weekly, Coupe shared a mysterious quote on her Instagram mere hours before the news broke of her split wherein she hinted at the potentially tumultuous times she and Olien had that might have led to their breakup. The quote, by Jackson Kiddard, reads, "Anything that annoys you is teaching you patience. Anyone who abandons you is teaching you how to stand up on your own two feet. Anything that angers you is teaching you forgiveness and compassion. Anything that has power over you is teaching you how to take your power back. Anything you hate is teaching you unconditional love. Anything you fear is teaching you courage to overcome your fear. Anything you can’t control is teaching you how to let go."
Neither Coupe nor Olien released any official statement in the wake of their split that further detailed the reasons behind their split.
Chrissy Metz & Josh Stancil
Metz was fairly calm when she revealed that she had broken up with her now-ex-boyfriend, Josh Stancil, while appearing on The Wendy Williams Show in late March. She and Stancil had met on the set of This Is Us, the show that stars Metz and for whom Stancil was working as a camera grip at the time.
Ruby Rose & Jess Origliasso
After nearly two years together, actor and model Ruby Rose confirmed on social media that she and former girlfriend, musician Jess Origliasso, had split up. In a note that was posted to her Twitter, Rose wrote that "I've spent the last two years learning and sharing my life with an amazing human being. […] We still love each other very much and I will always support her and be her biggest advocate." The couple began dating in 2016 after Rose appeared in a music video for musical duo The Veronicas, which Origiliasso is one-half of (along with her twin sister, Lisa).
Tiffany Trump & Ross Mechanic
The youngest daughter of President Donald Trump, Tiffany Trump, and her boyfriend of two years, Georgetown law student Ross Mechanic, reportedly split in March. Us Weekly notes from an external source that the couple had an amicable split in the fall of 2017 (even though the news is only now getting out) and that Trump wants to focus on law school right now.
Alessandra Ambrosio & Jamie Mazur
After 10 years together, Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio split with her longtime partner and now ex-fiancé, Jamie Mazur. The couple got engaged in 2008 and have two children together, according to Us Weekly.
Common & Angela Rye
They were together a little less than a year but they were the woke couple of our dreams. In March 2018, CNN commentator Angela Rye split with rapper Common. While speaking with Page Six, Rye noted they'd remain friendly. "We have and will always be friends. He is an amazing human being, and I'm a much better person because he's a part of my life," she said. "May we all keep loving and living."
Usher & Grace Miguel
After nearly a decade together, including two years of marriage, Usher and Grace Miguel chose to split up. The split came in March 2018 and took many by surprise. The pair had reportedly been living separately for months although it's unclear what incident or issue broke them up.
In a joint statement to Us Weekly, Usher and Miguel expressed their amicable decision to split. "After much thought and consideration we have mutually decided to separate as a couple," they wrote. "We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives. The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward."
Claire Foy & Stephen Campbell Moore
After four years of marriage, The Crown's Claire Foy and Stephen Campbell Moore announced their separation in February.
"We can confirm that we have separated and have been for some time," the couple said in a statement. "We do, however, continue as great friends with the utmost respect for one another. We ask for our privacy during this time."
The couple has a 2-year-old daughter.
Rebecca Gayheart & Eric Dane
Rebecca Gayheart has filed for divorce from Eric Dane after nearly 16 years of marriage. The two announced their separation in February.
"After 14 years together we have decided that ending our marriage is the best decision for our family," the statement explained. "We will continue our friendship and work as a team to co-parent our two beautiful girls as they are the most important thing in the world to us. We kindly ask that you respect our privacy during this time as we navigate the next phase of our lives."
The two reportedly plan to share custody of their daughters, 7-year-old Billie and 6-year-old Georgia.
Sarah Silverman & Michael Sheen
Sarah Silverman announced on Twitter that she and Michael Sheen had split over the holidays.
"The great @michaelsheen & I consciously uncoupled over Christmas. I mean, not ‘over Christmas’ — like that wasn’t the fight that ended it," Silverman tweeted at the beginning of February. "No fight. We just live in different countries & it got hard. Felt we should just tell y’all so u stop askin, ‘How’s Michael/How’s Sarah?'"
The two dated for four years.
Monica Potter & Daniel Christopher Allison
After 12 years of marriage, Monica Potter and her husband Daniel Christopher Allison have split. News broke at the beginning of February that the two had filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. The couple has one daughter, 12-year-old Molly. Potter also has two other children, Liam, 24, and Daniel, 28, from her previous relationship with Tom Potter.
Julie Bowen & Scott Phillips
Julie Bowen and her husband, Scott Phillips, called it quits at the beginning of February after 13 years of marriage. They share three sons, 10-year-old Oliver and 8-year-old twins John and Gustav. The former couple has yet to comment publicly about their split.
Elon Musk & Amber Heard
After a short-lived reconciliation at the end of 2017, Elon Musk and Amber Heard have separated once again. The couple first broke up in August 2017 after a year of dating, then decided to give it another go five months later before breaking up again in February 2018. A source told Us Weekly, "Elon decided it was time to end things, and Amber agreed. They both care for one another, but the timing just isn’t right."
Jesse Williams & Minka Kelly
After a summer romance in 2017, news broke at the end of January that Minka Kelly and Jesse Williams are no longer dating.
In fact, a source told Entertainment Tonight the two have been dunzo for a while now.
Lena Dunham & Jack Antonoff
Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff announced their split at the beginning of January after five years of dating.
"The breakup is amicable," Dunham's rep said in a statement, though they didn't elaborate on any of the details surrounding their split.
A source told E! News, "[The split] was mutual. Jack and Lena were growing apart and it just made sense for them to end their relationship where it was."
Dunham hinted at trouble back in November 2017 when she tweeted, "I thought Jack was furtively planning a proposal to me with his sister and he just admitted I actually caught him 'talking shit' about me!"
She added in a separate tweet, "Now I literally can't sleep cuz I'm laughing too hard and I am also keeping him awake. 5.5 years, no rock and you know what? It's real nice."
But was it really nice given that the couple split just a couple of months later?
Nicki Minaj & Nas
After seven months of dating, Nicki Minaj and Nas reportedly split at the beginning of January.
A source told Us Weekly, "Nicki and Nas fizzled out. They were never in the same place at the same time, so it was hard to move their relationship forward." The sourced added, "They still remain friends."
Minaj and Nas were first linked in May after Minaj posted a picture snuggling next to Nas despite her intended year of celibacy.
"I’m just chillin‘ right now. I’m celibate. I wanted to go a year without dating any man. I hate men," she told Ellen DeGeneres at the time. "I might make an exception to the rule for him ‘cause he’s so dope."
Alicia Silverstone & Christopher Jarecki
Alicia Silverstone and her husband, Christopher Jarecki, separated after 20 years together. The two were married in 2005, but have known each other since the mid-'90s.
According to a statement from Silverstone's rep, "They still deeply love and respect each other and remain very close friends but have mutually decided to separate after being together for 20 years. They have a son together who they will continue to co-parent."
The two have one son, 6-year-old Bear.
