In a year that seems to have been dominated by men being terrible in Hollywood, there is one bright side: Women are directing some seriously incredible movies, and they’re raking in money doing it. 2017 saw several top movies that were directed by women. Lady Bird famously maintained a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Wonder Woman was one of the top-grossing movies of the year.
We’re already looking forward to women-directed films in 2018 like A Wrinkle in Time, directed by Ava DuVernay. But if you want to continue to see movies where women had a pivotal role in their production, there’s one big thing you can do: Go out and see movies directed by women, particularly on their premiere weekend. Show Hollywood you’re watching, that you enjoy films directed by women and starring women, and that you’re willing to prove it with your dollars.
