29 things you should know about ‘Little People, Big World’s’ Matt Roloff’s past

His birthday is Oct. 7, 1961, which may explain his love for all things pumpkin and Halloween. 

His recent secret surgery wasn’t his first; Roloff had at least 15 surgeries related to his dwarfism during his childhood.

While Roloff’s parents and sister are average height, his brother Sam was also born with diastrophic dysplasia. 

Roloff’s middle brother, Joshua, was born with severe heart malformation and died in 1999 when he was just 34 years old. 

Roloff married his now ex-wife, Amy, six months after meeting her at a Little People of America convention in 1987.

Before pursuing his farming dreams, Roloff was an extra on Under the Rainbow in 1981.

Roloff also played an Ewok in the Star Wars TV movie Ewoks: The Battle of Endor in 1985. 

In the late 1980s, Roloff worked as a computer programmer for Silicon Valley companies. 

Then he sold system software to Fortune 500 companies and was extremely successful. 

Since buying the farm in 1990, Roloff has added a pirate ship on a lake, a 3-story tree house, a full-size medieval castle and more. 

He founded and co-founded a number of other businesses over the years including Direct Access Solutions, MRE Inc. and MR Speaking. 

Roloff’s an executive producer of Little People, Big World, which filmed for 320 days every year, for six years. 

Roloff traveled to Iraq in 2008, to assist an Iraqi family with three dwarf children who needed medical attention.

Roloff is a part of the American Program Bureau and a member of the National Speakers Association. 

Roloff discusses inclusion, overcoming odds and sales leadership at corporate events and colleges. 

He’s been a guest speaker on The View, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Rachel Ray and more. 

We can only imagine the super cool project he helped Ty out with. 

With a ghostwriter, Roloff authored two books, which are now available on Amazon. 

Before separating, he launched a pumpkin food product business with, his now ex-wife, Amy. 

Roloff co-founded and is currently the president of the Coalition for Dwarf Advocacy, a non-profit for short-statured individuals. 

Well, when he’s not on his farm, that is. 

Now that he’s adjusting to the single life, maybe he’s pushing to be our next Bachelor. 

While he loves his tractors, he also loves vintage cars and owns the 1966 and 1967 Volkswagen Bugs. 

All his different responsibilities don’t hold him back; he’s traveled to the Caribbean Islands many times. 

The Roloff family sued when a county building inspector allegedly entered their property without permission or a warrant. 

In February 2015, he asked followers for help, calling Twitter “confusing,” but he’s only tweeted 4 times since then. 

Matt Roloff was charged with DUIs in 2003 and 2007. The charges were dropped in the second case, due to jury misconduct and lack of proof. 

His divorce was finalized in March 2016; according to Radar Online, they divvied up assets and both parties were satisfied with the results.
