Breaking up is never easy, and these celebrities know that better than anyone. These stars parted ways with their significant others and, in the process, totally hit us right where it hurts: in our hearts. While some splits shocked us — yes, I’m looking at you, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan — there were admittedly others that we totally saw coming, like Oscar-winner Casey Affleck and his wife, Summer Phoenix.
The following splits, however, are truly unforgettable. It’s always tough to see a relationship you’ve been in favor of (or at least mildly intrigued by) just crumble, and to see your favorite stars share divorce news on their Instagram can feel like a complete shock.
Everyone has their reasons, but man, couldn’t we have had a little bit of a warning? Okay, fine, we know we’re not going to get the advance news we so desperately want so… Here are all the celebrity couples who have called it quits without warning.
A version of this article was originally published in August 2017.
