Throughout this year’s awards season, female celebrities over 40 absolutely dominated the carpet. With the combination of impeccable taste and incredible confidence, stars like Angela Bassett, Viola Davis, Jennifer Coolidge and Jamie Lee Curtis almost always were right on top of the best-dressed list.
Newest Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, for example, brought her elegance and poise to every carpet she attended. At the Golden Globe, Yeoh wowed in a sequined deep purple gown with jewels decorating the trim. At the Oscars, Yeoh then did a total fashion 180 in a timeless flowy white gown. Stunning in both!
The same goes for Abbott Elementary‘s Sheryl Lee Ralph who brought sass in each showstopping look. Our personal favorite, of course, was at the 2022 Emmy Awards when she had an Angelina Jolie leg moment of her own in a strapless black gown with an impressively high slit.
Overall, no matter what the occasion, celeb women over 40 have proved they’re the ones to watch. So, of course, fashion’s biggest night at the Met Gala wouldn’t be any different. Check out some women over 40 who turned every single head at the 2023 Met Gala below!
