Film buffs have the Oscars, music connoisseurs have the Grammys, and theater geeks have the coveted Tony Awards. On June 12, 2022, the 75th Tony Awards took place at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City, honoring great achievements in Broadway the past year. This year, we got a real treat with Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose hosting the show (with Darren Criss and Julianne Hough hosting the pre-show). Along with seeing some history-making moments, fans saw some jaw-dropping, dramatic looks no one will forget any time soon.
At the Tony Awards, many beloved Broadway plays like MJ: the Musical, Company, and A Strange Loop garnered a bunch of nominations. Not only that, but L Morgan Lee became the first transgender person to be nominated for a Tony for her role in A Strange Loop. While she didn’t take home the award, Jennifer Hudson did — making her the 17th person to become an EGOT winner. An EGOT winner is a huge goal among many, with the title meaning that the person won awards for an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.
It was a night to remember, with equally memorable outfits. From satin gowns to darting ball gowns, we couldn’t get enough of the red carpet fashion. Check out which ensembles we’re still fawning over from the 2022 Tony Awards below.
