Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins are one of the cutest couples in the country music scene. From their adorable daughters, Willa Gray, 5, Ada James, 3, Lennon Love, 1, and a fourth baby girl on the way, to the tremendous love the duo have for each other, we are so excited to get an insider’s look at their newly designed Nashville, Tennessee home.
House Beautiful spoke with the couple, and their designer April Tomlin, about creating a home that was reminiscent of their “grandparents’ homes.” Akins described their design ideas, “Their homes—and the memories made in them—are what inspired us to build a home for our family and friends.” And what we love about this house is that it has a touch of nostalgia — you can almost smell the chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven in their cozy kitchen.
But making the home feel warm and inviting doesn’t mean it has to be picture-perfect either. Akins explained that guests definitely know it’s a bustling household, “There are already stains on the carpets, markers on the walls, fingernail polish spilled on the wood floors, but it is a real and happy home. I love how much love it holds.”
Tomlin added a few decorating ideas that we might steal for our own home (wait until you see the hat wall), and it’s important to remember that a grandparents’ home can still feel modern, no doilies to be found in the Rhett-Akins’ home. Be sure to check out some of the highlights of their Nashville home — we think the kids’ bedroom is a design highlight — and be sure to check out more photos at House Beautiful.
