It’s hard to believe that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s oldest child, Maddox Jolie-Pitt is no longer a teenager. He turns 20 on Aug. 5 and is fully exploring his early adult years while a student at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. Even though Jolie kept her son away from the glaring lights of Hollywood as much as possible when he was younger, Maddox has begun to emerge into a spotlight of his own, making casual red carpet appearances in the past few years(when there wasn’t a pandemic raging on).
But we think it’s a sign of bigger things to come once Maddox graduates from college. He’s currently studying biochemistry in school, but his mom revealed to Dong-A Ilbo Daily, a South Korean media outlet, that he’s also brushing up on “his Korean and Russian studies” while he’s learning remotely due to the pandemic. “We are all so happy, as a family, that we will have the opportunity to get to know South Korea even better through Maddox, and with him, during his studies,” she shared with them.
Even though Maddox made his red carpet debut as a tiny tot at the age of three years old, we didn’t see him make an official return until 2013. Since then, he’s shown up to support both his mom and dad (well, mostly his mom now) in their film ventures. He doesn’t do interviews, but maybe in the coming years, he will step up and let us hear what he has to say. And we wonder if he might follow in his parents’ footsteps into the film industry, perhaps behind the camera?
We look forward to seeing more of Maddox’s red carpet appearances, whether alone or with his five siblings because we think he has a bright future ahead. And don’t miss the snapshot of his big moment at the Maleficent: Mistress of Evil premiere in Tokyo —he and sister Zahara already look like the next generation of Hollywood stars.
