20 New Books You Need to Add to Your Summer Reading List

Kara Angeli

The official start of summer is just around the corner and it’s time for us to focus on the things we really enjoy. For us, there’s nothing better than curling up at the pool, beach, or in your backyard with a good book. Not only do you probably need the break after another COVID year, but it’s always fun to escape into someone else’s world. Luckily, this summer is bringing some amazing new releases into our lives, like Ashley C. Ford’s debut memoir Somebody’s Daughter, Zakiya Dalila Harris’s The Other Black Girl, and so many more.

While we spent COVID trying not to go nuts and (if lucky) baking some bread, these authors were hard at work on brand-new books that you’ll be dying to discuss with other readers, and may even convince you to get that book club back together. Here are 20 new reads for you to fall into over the next few months.
