We could all use a good cry every once in a while, and when life gets busy, it’s hard to find a good moment to let the tears flow. Or maybe you’re like Cameron Diaz in The Holiday and you just can’t make yourself tear up. Either way, a good cry sesh is a huge part of why we love sad movies — or even happy movies with some really sad moments— so much. We can cry out faces off and let the endorphins flow without having to will them out of ourselves.
Hollywood is full of these movies, and in case you haven’t put together your own personal list yet, we’ve named some of our favorites. It’s kind of like a cathartic therapy session, except way cheaper and you won’t have to talk (and it’s unlikely to be prescribed by your doctor.)
