The X Factor is about to get a lot more girly. According to TMZ, the show is in negotiations to add Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio to the judges’ seats left empty by Britney Spears and L.A. Reid at the end of last season.
“Sources connected to FOX tell TMZ the pair are in final negotiations to join the show… with only minor details left to be hammered out before they sign on,” the website said.
“I am so excited to return as a judge and mentor on The X Factor,” she told Zap2It. “Last season was an unbelievable experience and I really enjoyed developing personal relationships with the contestants and the panel. I look forward to taking my previous experience and applying it to make this season even better!”
Possible new judge Kelly Rowland has a new album, Talk a Good Game, out June 28. The former Destiny’s Child singer has been busy lately, beginning with a halftime performance at the 2013 Super Bowl alongside her former bandmates. The new gig wouldn’t be too far outside her realm of experience. She has hosted on the U.K. version of The X Factor and performed on Season 8 of So You Think You Can Dance.
Paulina Rubio is a Mexican singer who is perhaps less known in the United States but has sold millions of albums all over the world. She has been in the music industry probably longer than anyone else on the judging panel — she started her career at age 13 — so she will be a very knowledgeable voice in the mix.
According to Entertainment Weekly, The X Factor‘s decision is expected to be announced on Monday.
