Kardashian was widely photographed attending the star-studded gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, despite being banned from last year’s party. How’d she manage that?
Kim Kardashian was famously banned from the high-class yearly Metropolitan Museum of Art gala in 2012 by hostess Anna Wintour, but this year she showed up on the red carpet. How? She got there on the arm of boyfriend Kanye West.
Page Six has the details: Vogue editrix Wintour, who famously hand-picks each guest for the Gala, had snubbed Kardashian in years past for her reality show/sex tape background.
But this year, the Met gala was co-hosted by Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci (along with actress Rooney Mara and Moda Operandi’s Lauren Santo Domingo).
West is a close pal of Tisci’s. Either for reasons of his own or due to West’s prompting, Tisci strongly advocated for a West stage show at the gala.
West said he wouldn’t play unless Kardashian got an invite.
Cut to: Kardashian and West on the red carpet. She made it in!
Yet she was reportedly was still feeling a little bummed out, since West was reassuring her publicly that she’s “awesome,” don’t listen to the haters.
Now that’s what you want to tell your pregnant girlfriend when she’s feeling insecure. Good job, Kanye West!
A grumpy source told Page Six that if West got his way, it’d be Kim’s belly “climbing all those stairs.” Well, he did perform. Kardashian did attend. And there were indeed many pics of the pair on the way into the party, most of them taking a side view to better reveal Kardashian’s seven-months-along pregnancy.
