Kate Winslet has signed on to star as Jeanine Matthews. The incomparable Oscar-winner will join Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) and Theo James (Downton Abbey) for the action thriller.

Based on the 2011 best-seller by Veronica Roth, the film centers on a time when people are divided into groups based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) learns she doesn't belong to any group and is therefore considered a Divergent.

When she uncovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she is forced to defend herself from impending danger.
