The best way to address tabloid rumors is to have a sense of humor and take it to the fans directly by using the social media outlet, Twitter. That’s exactly what country superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert did on Sunday.

Shelton decided to respond to a tabloid cover story by Life & Style that he is having an affair with a 23-year-old music artist.

Here’s how The Voice judge decided to tackle the rumors.

He tweeted, “Hey @mirandalambert… I just read in a tabloid that our marriage is falling apart! FOCK!”

His 29-year-old wife humorously wrote back, “Oh no! Can’t wait to read if we make it or not.”

That response seemed to please Shelton who tweeted one final time, “Ba! Ha! Ha! You see y’all! I’m making her funnier!”

The comedic approach diffused the situation for the couple and their fans. In fact by Monday afternoon, more stories were being written about their Twitter exchange versus the false tabloid story that claims that cheating has ruined the couple’s “perfect marriage”.

The couple apparently enjoy using Twitter to shoot down any rumors about their relationship since they did the same thing last November over baby bump rumors. When Life & Style published a misleading story about Lambert possibly being pregnant, the couple had a similarly hilarious social media exchange.

The tabloids need to realize that the couple that plays together, stays together. Shelton and Lambert are proving that theory to be correct.
