Behind the scenes of Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away on DVD

Bring the circus to your house in the 3D Blu-ray and DVD release of Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away on March 12. Find out how Erica Linz and the cast work together to learn the choreography and create an aerial duet.

When the circus comes to town, we get carried away in the magical theatrical performances of "Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away" with Erica Linzaerialists and very limber performing artists. Similar to movies, we watch our hopes and dreams play out pulling us into a fantasy world. Now you can watch acrobats magically fly through the air in Cirque du Soleil: World’s Away in 3D Blu-ray and DVD from the gravity of your own couch.

Yoga would be a walk in the park for any of these acrobats; so what’s their secret to making their performance so seamless, other than practice and working out? One reason is that the the cast knew each other before filming, making it easier for them to trust one another and perfect their tricks.

Performers Erica Linz and Igor Zaripov knew each other, but had never worked together in an aerial duet. They only had a short time to produce their act, so knowing each other made it a lot easier to immediately trust one another when performing up to 40 feet up in the air.

In addition, the performances in Cirque du Soleil are developed and honed for months and years, similar to how actors have to perfect their craft with tons of practice. Can you imagine Daniel Day-Lewis doing method acting as an acrobat in Cirque du Soleil? I would defintely run away to the circus to see that sight.

Executive producer of Avatar James Cameron certainly has a talent for turning actors and stories into 3D animation. Combining forces with director and writer Adam Adamson of Shrek and The Chronicles of Narnia, they transport our senses and imagination to a dreamlike world.

Movie review: Cirque du Soleil is coming… in 3D! >>

Prepare yourself with some Kleenex as you are swept away by the love story of an aerialist and a mid-western gal. Who wouldn’t have tears of joy watching handsome, heroic and strong men in tights, especially if they can fly you through the air like Superman? No wonder people want to run away with the circus. Trust me and get sucked into this behind the scenes clip.
