Revolution powering down SXSW
SXSW, which celebrates original music, independent films and emerging technologies, will be losing power this year thanks to NBC's Revolution.
This year at SXSW (aka South by Southwest) Conferences & Festivals, NBC's Revolution is giving us a taste of life without power.
The show is sponsoring the popular SXcycles Bike Share Program. Registrants will have access to 150 branded bikes to use in Austin so they can make it to all the SXSW interactive, film and music conferences.
The SXcycles event will also include an outdoor consumer lounge with all the fixings of a post-power world, including handcrafted furniture created from repurposed materials; power-free games like shuffleboard, ring toss and horseshoes; and a chalk wall for registrants to answer questions like "What powers you?" Thanks to pendants, the lounge won't be completely powerless. Attendees will be able to view Revolution content and charge mobile devices at a "recharge bar."
