Country fans are going to be happy with Thursday’s announcement from The Academy of Country Music and Dick Clark Productions, which released the roster of performers for ACM Presents: Tim McGraw’s Superstar Summer Night.
Audiences can expect country music sensations like Jason Aldean, Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan — plus R&B artist Ne-Yo — to be onstage with the legendary McGraw at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The show will tape on Monday, April 8, and air on CBS later this year.
The concert will run two hours and feature the 15-time ACM Award winner singing not only his hottest hits but also hits associated with Swift, Aldean and more. Ticket sales from the concert will benefit ACM Lifting Lives, the official charity of the Academy, which provides grants to music therapy and music education programs. It also benefits members of the music community who are facing financial or medical hardships.
In a statement released on Thursday, McGraw said, “There’s no better time for live music than in the heat of the summer. Country music is hotter than it has ever been, and with some help from a few friends in other genres too, we’re going to get summer started off right.”
He continued, “I’ve been lucky enough to have all these artists join me on tour, and it’ll be fun to get everyone back together to help raise money and bring some attention to Lifting Lives. Not enough people know what good work the organization does, and when I was asked to help put this show together, it was a no-brainer.”
McGraw has had an incredible career in country music, selling over 40 million albums and topping the charts with 33 No. 1 singles. With three Grammy Awards, 12 Country Music Association Awards, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards and 10 American Music Awards, his trophy mantel is pretty full.
