Kerry Washington’s life is turned upside down in Peeples. Her onscreen boyfriend, played by Craig Robinson, is desperate to meet her parents. He has marriage on the brain and would love her father’s blessing.
We can’t get enough of Kerry Washington. The beautiful and talented actress is dominating both television and film. During the past year, she’s appeared in the Oscar-nominated Django Unchained, and her ABC series Scandal has experienced a surge in popularity.
What’s next for the Hollywood dynamo? Washington will headline Peeples. It’s a comedy, which explores an age-old question. What happens when a good girl falls in love with a guy from the wrong side of the tracks?
Grace (Washington) is apprehensive to introduce her boyfriend Wade (Craig Robinson) to her upscale family. He’s not the kind of man they had in mind for her. Grace’s father (David Alan Grier) is a federal judge who’s not easily swayed. His disdain puts a wrench in Wade’s plans to propose to Grace.
“Wade might be a fish out of water among this picture-perfect East Coast clan always trying to keep up appearances, but he’s not about to let himself sink. Instead, in a wild weekend of fun, dysfunction and hilarious surprises, Wade is about to discover there’s room for all kinds of Peeples in this family, no matter their differences.”
Peeples is from writer and first-time director Tina Gordon Chism (Drumline, ATL). She joins forces with Tyler Perry to present this interesting look at family dynamics. The film co-stars S. Epatha Merkerson, Tyler Williams, Melvin Van Peebles, Diahann Carroll, Kali Hawk and Wade Allain-Marcus.
Peeples hits theaters May 10.
