Javier Bardem gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Javier Bardem has to be on top of the world. He is in the top movie in the country, which opened at the same time he was given his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Javier Bardem had a big weekend. Not only was he a part of the biggest movie of the weekend, Skyfall, but he also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Bardem's star is located in front of the El Capitan theater.
"The event helped to drum up buzz for the release of the new James Bond film, Skyfall, which hit theaters Friday and features Bardem as villain Silva," said CBS News. "The Oscar-winning actor was joined on Hollywood Boulevard by director Sam Mendes and his Bond castmates Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe."
Bardem hasn't been among the Hollywood elite for very long. Many moviegoers have their first memories of him from the 2007 film No Country for Old Men. He received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in that movie.
"Javier Bardem Day. That's so cool," the actor said to E! News. "And what's that like? Does everyone have to walk with a broken nose around Hollywood Boulevard?"
Bardem was referring to an incident from a few years ago, when his nose was damaged in a bar brawl.
Skyfall earned an estimated $87.8 million over the weekend, making it the number-one film of the weekend (by far). It has also been given the honor of having the highest-selling first weekend of any James Bond film in history.
Skyfall director Sam Mendes said Bardem was "so embarrassed" to be given the star, according to CBS News, but accepted the honor nonetheless.
According to the Internet Movie Database, the film is about a lawyer who "finds himself in over his head when he gets involved in drug trafficking."
The Counselor is set to be released in 2013.
