Why did Kris Jenner flash her breast implants on national TV?
With so many upset over NBC's choice to show Kris Jenner instead of a 9/11 memorial, the message Jenner was hoping to share was forgotten.
Most people woke up this morning to the news that Kris Jenner had flashed her (fake) breasts on the Today show, but so much controversy surrounded the stunt that the people who didn't watch the show didn't stop to ask why she did it. It turns out that the matriarch of the Kardashian clan wasn't just looking for attention.
Jenner showed her breast implants on national television because they are the second pair she has had, and she wanted to promote the idea that recipients are not supposed to keep their implants in forever. "You know, take them out and change them after 10 years," she told Today, according to EntertainmentWise. "That was a big message and important for me to sort of put out there in a comical way. You know, I made fun of myself. Because at my age, you're over 50 — like, when do you stop? But it was so important, healthwise, to remind women to check your expiration date because it's a health risk."
The 56-year-old mother of six (plus four step-children) told the show that she feels women need to be open about their own bodies and finding out what keeps them healthy.
"I thought it was such a great idea to film that," Jenner told Today. "The reason I went in and did that was because I had had my implants in for 152 years — you know, a long time, way longer than their shelf life."
But the message didn't go over well because of the timing of Jenner's visit. Her interview on the show came at a time when ABC, Fox and CBS all switched over to Obama's 9/11 moment of silence, leaving many to wonder what NBC was thinking. The local NBC station did choose to break in with the ceremony from New York.
