Green Day's Billie Joe on the mend after hospitalization
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is "feeling better now" according to his wife, after reportedly suffering "gastric problems" so severe the 40-year-old was hospitalized and the band's show in Italy had to be nixed.
Adrienne Armstrong tweeted that husband and Green Day frontman Billie Joe was "feeling better" and thanked the band's fans for "all the love & well wishes."
The tweet follows the 40-year-old rocker's health scare in Bologna, Italy Sunday.
Armstrong was rushed to the hospital after suffering "gastric problems," according to "local reports" cited by WENN.
Green Day was scheduled to perform at a festival show in the city later that night.
Fellow bandmates Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt posted a video message, explaining that Armstrong was rushed to the hospital "due to illness" and that "doctors don't think it's a good idea for him to play today."
"We're beyond devastated," Tré Cool said. "We're as sad as you guys are. Billie's extremely upset about it, and we'll see you very soon."
The singer was reportedly discharged from Hospital Maggiore on Monday, only after Italy's La Voce (via WENN) claimed "some fans caused problems at the hospital by attempting to visit Armstrong."
The "gastric problems" do align with the buzz on Twitter, with fans tweeting that really bad stomach cramps were the culprit, and slamming claims that the father of two died.
