Are Russell Brand and Geri Halliwell a couple?

After the two found themselves performing at the Olympics closing ceremony together, a new friendship started. But how much further has it gone?

It seems like a match made in British-showbusiness heaven, and we can’t believe no one thought of it before. According to the UK Daily Mail, Brits Russell Brand and Ginger Spice (otherwise known as Geri Halliwell) are something of a couple.

The paper said that the two really got to know each other while both were performing at the closing ceremony of the Olympics, and they really hit it off.

“Russell, 37, and Geri, 40, have been spotted on several dates together since hooking up at the sporting extravaganza, where they both performed during the night,” said the Daily Mail. “Last weekend they were seen taking in the sights of Hampton Court Palace, even with Halliwell’s daughter Bluebell in tow.”

While the new relationship should seem like a happy union, it is not for everyone. Brand was already dating someone, and he has reportedly broken up with her since meeting Halliwell.

He had been with Isabella Brewster for only a few months. He divorced Katy Perry at the end of 2011 and has since been seen out with different women.

“Things are getting very serious between them — they’re a proper couple now,” a source told The Sun. “They had met several times in the past, but really got to know each other during the Olympics.”

The source also said that Brand was so excited about really getting to know Halliwell at the Olympics that he said, “I’ve got a crush on Geri Halliwell — everything in the world is how it should be.”

However, Halliwell is not admitting to the relationship just like that.

“They’re just friends and have been out a few times, there’s not much else to add at this stage,” her rep told the Daily Mail.

But if the two are in fact a couple, the move wouldn’t be a new one for Brand. He met his wife Katy Perry at a high-profile event also. The couple originally met at the MTV Video Music Awards.
