The popular ABC ensemble comedy Happy Endings heads into its third season. It debuted back in April 2011 as a midseason replacement and has grown on viewers and critics alike.
For Season 3, Happy Endings moves to the 9 p.m. timeslot, airing after Dancing with the Stars. The season premiere is set for Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 9/8c.
Synopsis:
Set in Chicago, Happy Endings follows the lives of six young urbanites dealing with relationships, careers and everything else they encounter. Like Friends and How I Met Your Mother, the show focuses on the group dynamic, but that’s where the comparisons should end. Over the first two seasons, critics couldn’t stop making Friends comparisons — which set the bar too high and wasn’t fair to the new show. Now heading into Season 3, Happy Endings has developed its own identity.
The cast includes married couple Brad (Damon Wayans Jr.) and Jane (Eliza Coupe) — whose PDA freak out the rest of the gang — along with Jane’s somewhat ditzy sister, Alex (Elisha Cuthbert), and Alex’s ex-fiance, Dave (Zachary Knighton). Serial dater Penny (Casey Wilson) and gay slacker Max (Adam Pally) round out the group.
At the end of last season, Brad finally told Jane that he had lost his job, and Penny began to realize that she had feelings for Dave. However, the finale episode ended with Dave and Alex holding hands.
Why you should watch?
It looks like Dave and Alex start dating again in Season 3 — and that’s reason enough to watch, though we are sure they won’t end up together. Our favorite situation will be an unemployed Brad following in the footsteps of slacker Max, while the perfectionist and control freak Jane will be the sole money maker.
