Avril Lavigne's engagement ring reportedly worth $350,000
Lavigne is one lucky girl. A successful career and a boyfriend who loves her, who reportedly spent $350,000 on her engagement ring.
When Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger announced their engagement on Tuesday, most of the world was shocked. The two Canadian rockers had kept their relationship a pretty good secret.
But now the couple is showing the world how proud they are of their engagement. They released a photo today showcasing Lavigne's engagement ring.
"A pear-shape diamond set in platinum is a nod to vintage glamour and individuality — perfect for a rocker like Avril," a jewelry expert, Michael O’Connor, told Us Weekly. "The half-moon diamonds are also rare since they would have to be specially cut to fit on either side of the center diamond. The center diamond is approximately 10 carats, with an additional 4 carats of total side diamonds."
O'Connor said the ring could be estimated to be valued at around $350,000.
The photo will appear in the Sept. 10 issue of Hello! Canada magazine. They began working with each other on Lavigne's new album, and the romance came as a surprise to both of them.
"I knew I was falling for her," Kroeger told the magazine. "It was incredibly powerful and something I'll never forget."
Lavigne, 27, has one marriage on her new fiance — she was married to Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2010. She then dated Brody Jenner on and off for a few years before working with Kroeger.
The magazine article interviews both Kroeger, 37, and Lavigne and gets both sides of the tale. They newly-engaged couple has only been dating for around six months, but are sure enough about their relationship to take the next step. And to spend at least $350,000 on that next step.
"He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive," Lavigne said.
Lavigne and Kroeger have not released any details about their wedding, including a wedding date.
