The Rich Kids of Instagram blog will probably make you cry
Ever wonder what it would be like to have unlimited amounts of cash to spend? Now you can find out, courtesy of rich kids and Instagram.
You know that overwhelming sense of guilt you feel when you charge a few hundred dollars on your credit card. Yeah, we know that feeling well. Believe it or not, there are some kids — yes, kids — who never feel that way. Why? They have American Express Black cards with no limits, that's why.
Oh yes, those kids do exist all over the world — not just in Hollywood. Now, we can look at their excessive lifestyles with major disgust, courtesy of the Rich Kids of Instagram Tumblr account that went viral this week.
"A few misspelled Instagram searches led to the uncovering of opulence, so we put it on Tumblr," the creator of the blog — who wishes to stay anonymous — told the Washington Post. Opulence, indeed: One photo shows a teen doing a back flip out of a helicopter. Another shows a bar tab for $107,000. Yes, as in over one-hundred-thousand big ones. Such receipts aren't uncommon to see on the blog.
And then there's the $9,000 Versace gold-plated AK-47. Yes, such a thing actually exists.
"Our everyday is better than your best day," reads one caption on a photo. Indeed.
One 22-year-old chronicled on the blog — Jon Wienner — says it used to be a really cool thing, but now it's totally lame.
"Before it was a chronicle of the children of the one percent," Wienner lamented to the WaPost. "Now anybody can post a photo of his big bottle of Dom [Perignon]."
Oh, rich kids: We so feel for your plight. Now, if you'll excuse us we need to drink some boxed wine and cry into our bank statements.
