One-hundred guests were surprised at a wedding with a special performance by a knight. Reports are that the groom donated money to John's HIV/AIDS organization.

Most brides like to know every detail that will be happening at their wedding. But, for one bride, a surprise from her groom was probably not a bad thing.

Saturday night, Sir Elton John showed up at a small wedding in Calgary. The singer’s appearance was reportedly arranged by the groom as a present for his wife.

If your future husband arranges something the royal family couldn’t, you should assume he is a keeper.

“Imagine… the surprise and delight when the 100 or so guests at a wedding in Calgary Saturday learned the entertainment was none other than the iconic British singer,” said the Ottawa Citizen.

No one has confirmed what John was paid, but the newspaper reports hearing the paycheck could be up to $3 million. But that may not be the case.

“Much more likely… was that John was a paid a ‘stipend’ and then a sizeable donation was made to the singer’s AIDS foundation,” said the Citizen, “which has raised more than $200 million to support HIV/AIDS programs since its inception in 1992.”

John performed another wedding back in 2010 where he was paid $1 million. That groom? None other than conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh. According to the Huffington Post, the performance raised the eyebrows of both John and Limbaugh’s fans.

The 65-year-old singer is currently in residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and will return to the Sin City on October 9. He also currently has the number one album in the UK.

“The album Elton John vs. Pnau, Good Morning to the Night, hit No. 1 on the U.K. charts when it was released last week,” said the Huffington Post.

John is not unfamiliar with Canadians or weddings. He celebrated his own wedding when he entered into a civic partnership with David Furnish, a Canadian, in 2005.

The couple has a son who will be two years old Christmas day.
