Katy Perry and John Mayer were seen leaving Chateau Maramont, leading people to speculate that their dating! But an insider says, they’re taking it slow.
Wednesday night the paps snapped Katy Perry and John Mayer leaving a favorite celeb haunt — the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood. It’s just the latest in a series of sightings of the budding couple.
And, according to reports, their first date was way back in 2009 — the night before Perry was “fated” to meet her ex at the MTV Video Music Awards.
New York Daily News featured photos of Mayer behind the wheel, with Perry by his side, as the musicians left the hotel.
“Perry can be seen smiling coyly at Mayer from the passenger seat as he drives, while he flashes the occasional grin,” the pub notes.
This “date night” comes a few weeks after sources spotted Perry on a two-day “Mayer” binge: First, Us Weekly reports the musical duo was spotted at Soho House in West Hollywood June 19.
“They were affectionate, holding hands and cuddling,” a witness told Us.
The following night, the Part of Me pop star was spotted enjoying pizza in Mayer’s company.
Hookups delayed — by three years!
E! News reported that Perry almost hooked up with Mayer back in 2009 — even meeting up for a “late-night date” at New York’s Gold Bar.
“John thought she was so hot and fun and was into her,” the source told E! back in the day. “They were so flirty and all over each other that night at the bar, they really liked each other.
“Their personalities just clicked and they were flirting and dancing and it was on.”
As luck would have it, the next day Perry met her future husband, Russell Brand, at the VMAs.
We know how the rest of the story goes… Perry and Brand went on to have a 14-month marriage. And Mayer went on to break sweet little Taylor Swift’s heart, upholding his image as a shaggy-haired player.
We don’t see that “player” status changing anytime soon.
And Perry, who has also been casually dating Florence + the Machine’s Robert Ackroyd, at least claims she’s not itching to walk down the aisle again.
“For me, right now, I’m totally not looking,” she told USA Today in July. “I’m just looking to heal. And I’m on that path. I’m not down on love.”
