The actor is reportedly heartbroken, but he is keeping his commitments for a new movie he is very proud of.
“I’m not sure they’ll be able to recover from this,” a source told People magazine on Thursday.
The source continued by saying that Pattinson was just trying to deal with the heart break on his own.
“He currently wants to be as far from Kristen symbolically and physically right now while he deals with what has happened,” said the source.
So it may actually be a good thing that Pattinson has to get back to work sooner than later. His new film Cosmopolis will be released in theaters on Aug. 17.
“Cosmopolis is a film that Robert is very proud of and looks forward to supporting,” a rep for the actor told E! News. “No confirmed engagements have been canceled. Any reports to the contrary are inaccurate.”
The rep was responding to a report earlier today that Pattinson would be canceling all publicity for the film because of the break-up.
A studio rep for the film did say though that a “tentatively scheduled” press junket for the film, scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 10 in Los Angeles, has been canceled.
When Cosmopolis premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Kristen Stewart was in attendance with Pattinson.
Hopefully the film will keep Pattinson busy enough to keep his mind off of things.
The dilemma does bring up the issue of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part Two), which is set to be released in November.
The former couple/co-stars will likely be doing major publicity for the movie. Together.
There has been no word on what that publicity will look like but it may be an uncomfortable situation for all involved.
