Every summer has those songs… the catchy (often silly) ones that capture the carefree essence of the season. Here are ten of summer 2012’s guilty pleasures that have us unwittingly blaring the stereo and bobbing our heads along.

Enjoy while: Reminiscing about your first summer fling (you know, the one you totally thought would last forever).

Track 6 — “Starships” by Nicki Minaj

Summery sentiment: I’m on the floor, floor/I love to dance/So give me more, more, ’til I can’t stand/Get on the floor, floor/Like it’s your last chance/If you want more, more/Then here I am

Enjoy while: Looking fly and feeling flirty at a pool party.

Summery sentiment: Best friends, you are my f**king best friends/Seriously, it’s like the best night ever/This song, I’m really feelin’ this song/This song, f**king best song everrr

Enjoy while: Tossing back an adult beverage or two (or three)… it may be the only way to make sense of these lyrics, which we’re pretty sure were written in drunkanese.
