Which boy-band member made Britney and Demi swoon?
Former Menudo member Troy Kurtis auditioned for The X Factor on Wednesday. So, what did the judges think?
Menudo still has it.
The decades-old boy band, notorious for reinventing themselves with new members every few years, has always been smooth with the ladies.
But a former member now has the attention of two of the world’s biggest pop stars.
According to People, Britney Spears commented on Kurtis’s performance (or maybe the man himself) as “very sexy.”
“Wearing a leather jacket and black T-shirt, 31-year-old Troy Kurtis got the audience waving their arms back and forth as he sang in Spanish,” said People.
Kurtis spoke about how The X Factor could help him restart his career. Since he left the group more than 10 years ago, his solo career has been hurting.
"I never had any mentors," he told the judges, according to People. "I left my house at 16 because my step-father told me to shut up when I would sing. I feel like I'm just getting started."
The show is not releasing how Kurtis performed on the show, but they did talk about the judges’ reactions to the singer.
“Afterwards, during the judges' critique, L.A. Reid, 56, teased Demi Lovato, 19, about her love of all things Spanish, saying, ‘[Demi's] sweating. She's giggling,’” said People.
Menudo’s transformations meant more than 30 members were in the band over the years, the most famous probably being Ricky Martin. The band became a platform to launch the careers of Latin singers.
Kurtis was known as Troy Tuminelli while in the group, and unlike many of the members, was not discovered until he was 18. He was only in the group from 2000 to 2001 and has since been working on his solo career.
Kurtis was also the only non-Latin American to be a member of Menudo; he grew up in Danbury Connecticut.
The new season of The X Factor premieres Sept. 12.
