Here’s a news story that’s bound to surprise absolutely nobody. Rapper Snoop Dogg was detained by Norwegian authorities in an Oslo airport after a canine unit smelled marijuana on the performer’s person.

According to E! Online, a search produced 8 grams of weed… which is less than the 15 grams of marijuana that are allowed under Norwegian law as “personal use.” It’s Europe. They’re far more flexible about things like that.

However, Snoop — whose real name is Calvin Broadus — was also found to hold an amount of cash exceeding the country’s legal limits. So you can carry pot in Oslo, but not an excess of cash… which you’d probably use to buy pot. Got it.

Snoop’s fine for the various violations totaled 52,000 kroner, which translates to $8,600. He paid them on the spot and continued on to the site of the Hove Festival, where he was scheduled to perform. Yet even there, Snoop ran into issues with reporters who questioned why he was five hours late to the event.

"Man, shut… up. I'm here… be happy I'm here and ask some real questions,” Snoop reportedly barked. "I was late 'cause I went to go get some chicken wings… ‘cause I wanted to see Norway up close and personal, and visit an old folks' home. I went to visit a convalescent home. That's why I was late."

Needless to say, this wasn’t Snoop’s first brush with the law for pot possession. It wasn’t even his first stop this year. The rapper was detained at a Texas border patrol stop back in January.

Just Snoop being Snoop.
