In The Devil Wears Prada, evil never looked so good. That’s why Simon & Schuster is publishing another entry in the Miranda Priestly story. The popular novel will be followed up by Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns!
The Devil Wears Prada is getting a sequel. And to be clear, we’re referring to the novel, not the 2006 movie. Author Lauren Weisberger is working on a follow-up called Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns. Dun! Dun! Dun!
According to Entertainment Weekly, Revenge Wears Prada takes place eight years after Andrea “Andy” Sachs left her assistant position with fashion icon, Miranda Priestly.
Andy has a new job as the editor of a booming bridal magazine called The Plunge. There, she’s aided by her one-time frenemy-turned-bestie, Emily.
“While Andy is planning her own wedding to Max, a handsome media scion, she remains haunted by her impeccably heeled former boss — and the magazine world being as small as it is, it’s only a matter of time before she hears the dreaded syllables ‘Ahn-dre-ah!’ again.”
Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns will hit shelves in April 2013. Its predecessor was released a decade earlier in October 2003. As we all know, it was a New York Times best-seller that eventually caught Hollywood’s eye.
The Devil Wears Prada was turned into a major feature film starring Meryl Streep as the devil herself. The movie grossed an impressive $326 million worldwide, against its initial $35 million budget. It also starred Anne Hathaway and a young Emily Blunt. Not too shabby!
The film earned two Academy Award nominations for best performance by an actress in a leading role (Streep) and achievement in costume design. We wonder if the book’s sequel will have what it takes to hit the big screen?
