You knew it was only a matter of time before the crew over at Funny or Die took on the phenomenon that is Fifty Shades of Grey. Check out the hilarious clip starring a sexy — and innocent — Selena Gomez.
We always kind of thought that Selena Gomez would be the perfect choice for the virginal protagonist Anastasia Steele in the upcoming movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. Now? We definitely think she has the innocence — and comedic timing — to do the part, thanks to her hilarious Funny or Die parody of the runaway bestseller.
The clip — Fifty Shades of Blue — shows Gomez’s breathless crush over a dirtball contractor, Carl Blue, tasked with painting her wall — you guessed it: Blue. She pines over the gross painter while he snots and picks his bellybutton, though he’s the one who gets creeped out by her constant staring.
“His eyes were staring deep into mine. I could feel my cheeks getting flushed,” she narrates in the video, while her suitor shoots back “Take a picture, it’ll last longer.”
Eventually, he leaves Gomez heartbroken, but not before she writes her number on the invoice. “He had changed me,” she says. “I’ll never be the same.”
The pretty singer and actress is a known fan of the popular series and taking on the role of innocent Ana would be the perfect way to break out of her “good girl” image — something she wants to do anyway. Gomez recently told Interview magazine that her desire to change her reputation was the reason she took on the raunchy comedy Spring Breakers with Vanessa Hudgens.
“I was getting kind of repetitive in terms of the roles I was picking, and I really wanted to do something that was completely different,” she said. “It was a mark thing for me — like, ‘This is what I want to be doing.’ I want to be taking myself seriously as an actress, and this was definitely a stretch. I mean, I’d never smoked a cigarette before in my entire life. It was really funny — they had to show me how to do it.”
Something tells us that Gomez will always be a good girl, but it wouldn’t hurt to expand her horizons a bit.
