Tia Mowry kisses The Game goodbye!
BET's The Game is losing an important member of its cast. Actress Tia Mowry has announced that she's leaving the series after five seasons. And unfortunately, she's not the only one. Another star is also jumping ship.
Dr. Melanie Barnett Davis is throwing in the towel. Her portrayer, actress Tia Mowry, is moving on from the popular BET comedy.
Mowry broke the news on Twitter telling her followers that she wouldn't be back for the show's sixth season.
She wrote, "Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun."
Mowry's exit was a mutual decision between her and the network. But where does that leave her on-screen husband Pooch Hall? It turns out the actor, who plays Melanie's superstar husband Derwin Davis, is also leaving the show.
According to The Washington Post, in the wake of their absence, BET plans to revamp the series. They're currently “in the process of reworking the casting and storyline” and hope both actors "will make several guest appearances.”
Mowry and Hall already have their hands full with other projects. Mowry stars in the Style Network reality series Tia and Tamera, alongside her sister Tamera Mowry-Housley. While Hall is set to appear in the Showtime pilot Ray Donovan.
The Game debuted in 2006 on The CW, where it ran until 2009. Last year, BET picked it up for a fourth season, and made it part of their Tuesday night lineup.
