Katherine Heigl new baby name: Awful or awesome?
Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley adopted a second baby girl in April, but didn't revealed much -- until now! Find out what they decided to name Naleigh's baby sister.
Former Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl and her husband, musician Josh Kelley, traveled thousands of miles to get their first daughter, Naleigh, from South Korea. However, this time the couple stayed close to home when they adopted their new baby girl in April.
The couple has remained pretty mum on the details surrounding their new little addition, though their rep now confirms her name is Adalaide Marie Hope. That's not all: The couple also sat down with U.K.'s Hello! magazine for an upcoming photo spread and interview. Among the revelations? The couple only started the adoption process in October 2011.
"We knew an approximate date of the delivery but we all know how unpredictable these things can be. So Josh and I were bouncing off the walls with excitement and anticipation just waiting for the call. It came late morning during the week and we were both home and on the phone together," she told the magazine.
Unlike with Naleigh, Heigl and Kelley got to be a part of Adalaide's birth.
"Our first reaction was relief that all had gone well and that the baby was healthy, and then it was a whirlwind of preparing to leave and making sure we had everything we needed to welcome her home... It was late at night when Josh and I arrived at where she was being cared for. I walked in the house, threw down my bag and opened my arms so I could hold her," Heigl continued, adding that she cried when she finally met her new baby.
"She was so tiny and delicate, and that moment they put her in my arms I just felt an overwhelming sense of awe and wonder that this perfect little being was our daughter," she gushed. "I don't cry easily or often but I'm not gonna lie, this was one of those moments where you can't help but be overcome with emotion. There were some tears and [a] lot of giddiness and joy."
We weren't sold on the name at first, but it's growing on us — especially since the pretty blonde actress revealed its origins.
"Her full name is Adalaide Marie Hope Kelley — Adalaide because of my great-grandmother, Marie after my middle name and Hope because that is what the process became," she said.
All together now: Awww!
