“I’ve been watching the show like everybody else that is friends with Tony and I’ve been supportive,” said Chasez to The Hollywood Reporter, who has been friends with Lucca for a long time. “I have some of my own opinions about his performances and I’ve made them clear to him — we contact each other through the process.”
“I couldn’t be prouder of him,” Chasez explained. “He really has lived an extraordinary existence, and now he’s in a place where he can share those experiences and that existence with the world. I think you hear it in his voice, I think you see it in his body, I think he projects everything that he has gone through in his life through his craft now and it’s really inspiring.”
J.C. Chasez isn’t the only ‘N Sync member to back Lucca on The Voice. Justin Timberlake tweeted his endorsement earlier this season. However, such support has its disadvantages.
“I think people are less able to relate to somebody who’s got famous friends,” the America’s Best Dance Crew judge noted. “It’s a blessing [but] it’s definitely something difficult, as well, because it comes with expectation and you can’t just meet the expectation being in that situation. He essentially has to exceed it.”
