Lawless trailer: Hardy and LaBeouf as bad boy bootleggers

Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf share brotherly love in the upcoming film, Lawless. The period piece takes place during the Prohibition era and features them as a pair of troublemaking bootleggers.

The drama formerly known as The Wettest County finally has a trailer. The film, now called Lawless, stars Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Jason Clarke as brothers who make a living smuggling moonshine.

The trio of actors play the Bondurant Boys — bootleggers struggling to make ends meet during the Depression. The title Lawless aptly describes the majority of the film’s main characters.

Not only are the brothers breaking the law, but so are the people hired to uphold it. The film is littered with crooked authority figures.

And when the Bondurant Boys don’t play nice with their illegal profits, the county’s corrupt cops get angry. Real angry.

The villains of choice include Guy Pearce and Gary Oldman doing what they do best — showing no mercy!

The rest of cast includes Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska, who add a much-needed feminine touch. Wasikowska appears to be a love interest for LaBeouf’s character, while Chastain seems to lean towards Hardy.

Lawless is based on the novel The Wettest County in the World written by Matt Bondurant. It was originally published in 2008 and centers on Bondurant’s real-life grandfather and granduncles.
