The G.I. Joes are back with a new movie, a new leader and a kick-butt trailer. Paramount has released the latest promo for the sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, Adrianne Palicki and the original Joe, Bruce Willis.

Its predecessor, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was released in 2009 and laid the groundwork for Retaliation. The new film features a complete Cobra takeover led by the one and only, Cobra Commander.

In the latest trailer, we get a glimpse of how deep the Cobra operation runs. They’ve gotten their hands on the U.S. president and are slowly turning our democracy into a dictatorship.

What’s their first order of business? Get rid of the Joes! Thankfully, the soldiers won’t go down without a fight.

A group of vigilante team members, including Roadblock (Johnson), Snake Eyes (Ray Park), Lady Jaye (Palicki) and General Joseph Colton (Willis), are going to stop Cobra in its tracks.

You may be asking yourself, how did director Jon M. Chu get Willis on board with this sequel? Chu told The Hollywood Reporter it was all about earning Willis’ trust.

He explained, “When you’re courting Bruce it’s not like, ‘He’s going to do it — yay!’ It’s months and months of winning his trust, him learning about who I am and learning what the brand is about.”

“And I never really thought it would fully happen until he showed up on set, but he came through and he was awesome. I mean, he exudes the tone of the movie because he’s so cool and he’s so that guy, but at the same time doesn’t take himself too seriously.”
